WATCHING THE BIRDS.
Day 17 – Brrr! It was 31 degrees this morning when we got up. Soon, the sun came out and it turned out to be a gorgeous day. We had planned to take a drive around exploring today, but the weather was so nice that it seemed a shame to spend the day in the car.
Mid-morning we heard some thumping from the bedroom. When we checked to see what was going on, we found Pixie on the bed staring at a Chickadee that was taunting her from outside the window. There was a tree without leaves yet right outside the bedroom window, and evidently the cute little bird was concerned about all the cats it’d seen wandering around the RV. Pixie had it handled, though. Rob and I took turns taking pictures through the window of the Chickadee flying from the tree to the window screen and back again. We wondered if it had a nest nearby that it was protecting.

In the afternoon we sat outside with our chairs facing the trees that lined the river. There was much bird activity; they were very active. At one point a Bald Eagle flew overhead with a brave Crow loudly chasing it, harrassing it. Shades of things to come as spring progresses. Our next campground had many shorebirds right in front of the RV when we were there in 2019. We are looking forward to staying there again.

It was sunny with a high of 61 degrees today and very little wind. We spent much of the day outside reading our books, or in my case – napping. After dinner the lighting outside was perfect and birds were darting from tree-to-tree. Rob went out with his camera and took several excellent pictures of a Rusty-Capped Sparrow. A great end to a very good day.
