HERE COMES THE SUN.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Kiwanis Oceanfront Camping, St. Andrews, NB.

To: All Done Camping RV Park, Newtown, NB.

Day 16 – The sun was shining so brightly this morning, it got us up & out of bed early. Not a cloud in the sky! It was still quite windy in St. Andrews and fairly cold, 41 degrees, but the sunlight made all the difference. We leisurely packed up and got ready to hit the road.

117 miles (3:05) 63443-63560
Cumulative travels from 04/20/2023 to 05/02/2023, 733miles, 62827-63560

Before leaving for our next campground, we took some more pictures at this campground. They had sculptures at the entrance and several throughout the campground.

We departed at 10:05 a.m. It was 46 degrees and still windy, but the sunshine was wonderful. The girls were not happy about leaving, complaining loudly from the bedroom for the first hour of the trip. Some days are like that, but luckily most travel days they just curl up and go to sleep. We got on New Brunswick Route 1 and traveled east & north. Traffic was light and the road was in good condition. Road signs were bi-lingual, in French & English. We drove through St. John, a very large city by New Brunswick standards; traffic still wasn’t bad. At times we could see the ocean in the distance, but as we moved northward, we were traveling more by rolling hills than following the water. We saw several large nests, some with birds in them (Osprey or Eagles). A little after noon we stopped at a grocery store parking lot in Sussex to take a break. The girls were very happy about that, and when we got back on the road again, not a peep was heard from them. We made our standard lunch of Beyond Burgers.

Our destination was All Done Camping RV Park, located in Newtown, NB, a rural area in the hills and farmlands. We stayed at this campground in 2019. It was pretty, quiet, and peaceful,, so we decided to come back again since it was conveniently located halfway between destinations.. We turned off Route 1 onto a smaller country road, driving by farms and following large, slow-moving farm machinery until we reached the turn-off for the campground.

We arrived at 1:10 p.m. It was 53 degrees, sunny, and there was no wind. Very nice. We pulled up to the Office and were met by the campground owner who took Rob on a walk to look at a couple of available campsites. He chose site #6 with full hook-ups (30 amp). We were advised that there would be several excellent farm stands open tomorrow. The campground was not full and it was very quiet. Traveling off-season is great! There was a sign nearby for a trail that went down to the river. Before hooking up & unpacking, Rob took a quick walk down the trail to check it out. Then we let the girls out and set up camp.

The high today was 57 degrees. After relaxing a little, we made food to last for several dinners – Shrimp over Spanish Rice with Tomatoes, Corn & a mixture of carmelized Vidalia Onions, Garlic, & Shallots, topped with chopped Red Onion, Pepper-Jack Cheese, and dollops of Sour Cream & Spicy Salsa. We will be here for three nights before heading to Nova Scotia for a week at a campground by the water.
