TIMBERRR!!!
Day 5 – It was overcast today and cool out. Without the sun on the dashboard, the cat’s heated pads were the favorite places to be today. At the morning constitutional, Rob saw an Osprey, Ravens, a Bufflehead, and Squirrels. It was 44 degrees when we got up; the high today did not reach 50 degrees and there were a few sprinkles.
After the relaxation with his coffee, Rob turned into Paul Bunyan and spent most of the day taking down and cleaning up some of the trees that were damaged. He was able to get all of the paths cleared. There will be more to work on tomorrow. The power company won’t be coming out to deal with the trees leaning on the power lines because they are on our land. We tried again to reach the person recommended to us as the alternative to the power company for tree removal, and left another message. Here are a few pictures to show the progress on the other trees,

I spent most of the day working on trip planning. It’s time to begin making reservations for upcoming camping. Since almost all campgrounds are not open yet for the season, reaching someone has been hit or miss. Newfoundland’s Provincial Parks begin taking reservations at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. I need to be ready to try to beat everyone else out of grabbing the best camping spots. One of the advantages of traveling to Newfoundland before and taking good notes, is that this time we have a good idea of where we want to stay and which campsites are the best. May the best camper win!
