KAYAKING.
Day 281 – We did a couple of loads of laundry in the morning while there was more wind and clouds. When Rob went outside to put another load in the washer, there was a Deer in our campsite eating grass.
We had lunch at the Lodge – Rob had a Wrap with Asian Vegetables and Prawns; I had a Portobello Burger – and afterwards we drove part of upper Quadra Island and stopped at a boat launch on Main Lake. We put in the kayaks. Lots of people had the same idea. It was a beautiful day. We got up close and personal with a Bald Eagle that just sat on his rock and posed nicely. Main Lake is a large body of water in Main Lake Provincial Park.
There are not many roads on upper Quadra Island. We took the few narrow gravel roads and had a look around. There were several houses that were mansion-like intermingled with several houses that had been there for awhile. We drove out to Surge Narrows and found an isolated Lodge at the end of the road. The trees up here are very tall and some were old growth. On our drive we saw a family of River Otters scurry across the road in front of us, and in several locations there were more Deer eating besides the road. The high today was 75 degrees and it was mostly sunny.
