SATURDAY IN THE PARK.

Day 138 – Today was a go-nowhere day. It was in the 20’s when we got up, but sunny. We had our normal coffee/tea time in the morning. I had some catching up to do inside the RV and Rob continued working on the solar upgrade. More people had come into the campground overnight – one night stopovers; they’d all left by later this afternoon. We have the whole place to ourselves.

We’d planned to go back to Kern National Wildlife Refuge in the afternoon, but Rob decided to go ahead and finish the solar panel work. The girls hate it when Daddy walks on the roof. We now have 1600 watts of solar power which means we can charge our batteries faster with less sunlight. We’re moving away from the sunny desert, so more is better.

The park ranger paid us a visit to let us know that there was no water and the restrooms therefore were out of order. We are self-sufficient in the RV, we’d filled the tank with water when we’d arrived, so we’re fine. But, hmmm….wonder if that’s why the other campers left.

The birds here appear to be building nests. They’re flying back and forth with twigs in their beaks. The two Great Egrets we saw the day we arrived at the campground were back and prancing around in front of the RV. One was putting its head deep into the ground squirrel’s holes. Hungry? The high today was 65 degrees. It was cloudy with some wind in the afternoon. We didn’t go back to the Wildlife Refuge today after all; just relaxed later on.
