MEXICAN FOOD & BABY PUPPIES.
Day 128 – After a restless night, we woke to cold weather, 36 degrees, but at least it wasn’t windy! It was weird to get up and see the place you slept in for the first time. It was a small campground, at least the part we were in which had full hook-ups. A larger section was empty – no hook-ups. Our side was not full and the people who were camping here were quiet. What was noisy was the traffic – we were surrounded by I-215, I-15, and a railroad yard. Otherwise, it was a good campground and certainly in the right location for what we were doing today.
We left in the morning for All Pet Feed & Tack, a wonderful store in San Bernardino. They’d set aside 2 cases of cat food for us. We were supposed to meet our friend, Mark, at a highly-recommended restaurant in Riverside, a different city. Mind you, we’d never been to this area of California before and it was very crowded. We were relying on the GPS and Google directions, both. Tons of traffic, and of course, the road we were supposed to take was closed due to road work. We got redirected by technology to a different roundabout route. We were late for our meeting with Mark at Anchos Southwest Grill & Bar. Mark didn’t mind; he’d been seated at a table eating homemade green salsa with tortilla chips and a basket of the most fabulous homemade flour tortillas ever. We had a wonderful lunch. The food was excellent and seeing Mark is always great.
The reason Mark had driven quite a distance to meet us, and the reason we had rerouted our trip to meet up with him, was a dog named Luca. Luca is a sweet baby, a golden retriever, who is not old enough to leave his mama yet. Mark and his partner, Mark (and yes, they have the same first name) will be able to pick up their puppy for good in early March. Until then, they have to be content with just visiting with him. And we are suckers for baby-anythings. We don’t get out here to see “the Marks” often, so if we wanted to play with Luca and his siblings when they were little, it was now or never.
We left the restaurant in Riverside and drove to meet Mark at Luca’s current home in a city called Fontana. Once again the road we were directed to go on, this time a freeway entrance, was closed due to road work. After driving around in circles a bit, we were late to arrive to meet Luca. OMG, no amount of re-routing would’ve caused us to not enjoy a room full of puppies. We took lots of pictures. Below are some of them.

After visiting, Mark went his way and we went ours – to another city, Rancho Cucamonga – where we picked up 3 cases of cat food from Cozy Pet Supplies. We stopped at the Glen Helen Regional Park across from our campground to drive through and check out what they offered. We saw two Coyotes, and got some pictures of one of them.

We finally returned to the RV and said hello to our furry babies. They said we were traitors because they smelled dog on us. Little did they know that we’d been cuddling with puppies! We cooked a couple of nights dinner/lunches in advance. Tomorrow we leave for Long Beach, CA.
