NEW CAMERA EQUIPMENT, CAT FOOD, TUCSON.
Day 103 – It was colder today than yesterday, it even rained a little while squally winds blew through the campground. Today was another busy day, but once we have spent the time and money to fully stock up again, we should be good for awhile. We had not done major grocery shopping other than the weekly essentials since we left home in October.
We left this morning for a drive to a city called Green Valley. We’d called them a couple of days ago about cat food, and they said they’d set aside what they had of the brand we wanted. It’s called “Earthborn” and we readily get it from Chewy, but that’s not so easy when you’re on the road. This store was the only one we could find in this area that carried this particular canned food. Green Valley was 35 minutes away, and since we did get our mail yesterday, we did not also have to travel to Sierra Vista. We picked up our cat food and bought other brands, too, hoping the kids would like them. They’re picky. Since they were babies we always fed them certain foods, and if we tried something else on them, they haven’t liked it. Our fault. So fingers crossed they’d like the new brands we got. We drove back to Tucson, stopped by the RV park and put up the cat food, then drove to Whole Foods. Lots of traffic around Tucson!
We love Whole Foods. We don’t have any near us in NY or Maine, so it’s always a pleasure to shop at a Whole Foods. Both at home and in Maine, there are health food stores, but they don’t come close to the size and stock of the great big stores. We shopped till we dropped and also picked up lunch to go from their already-prepared foods. When we got back to the RV, finding a place for everything and putting it all up was the next challenge. It was like leaving home in October again.
Then the food prep began. What we really wanted to do was to play with our new camera toys, but we had more chores. Tomorrow we leave for several days in the desert without any hook-ups, followed by several more days at another no-hookup campsite. The only fresh water we’ll have then will be in the RV tank, therefore we have to be careful how much water we use. So today we washed hair, and freely used water for cooking – boiling a dozen eggs and cooking 2 lbs. of pasta. We also made a loaf of garlic bread and a sauce for our pasta, Lemon Shrimp Pasta over Egg Noodles.
Once the chores were finished, we relaxed and read our books, then went to bed. The next weeks will be away from the cities and chores. We are looking forward to it!
