TRAVEL DAY – ON TO OUR LAND.
Day 8 – It was 49 degrees this morning at 6:30 a.m. & partly cloudy. We’re looking forward to getting to the land. The last time we were there it was mid-November. We think our land is the best campground we’ve ever been to. Grin.
We departed Moorings Oceanfront at 9:20 a.m. after dumping tanks, 59 degrees & mostly sunny. The girls weren’t too happy with us, but when they get to the land, they won’t have to travel again for awhile.
There was surprisingly little traffic between Belfast and our destination, even in the normally-congested area around Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor. We stopped at our usual place, Martha’s Diner in Ellsworth, for their amazing crab quiche which we got to go rather than eating at the restaurant.
Once beyond Acadia & Schoodic Peninsula, there were very few cars. And it’s Labor Day weekend. So many of the motels, and many of the great old inns, are for sale and closed down. Also of note, we’ve seen many Trump/Pence signs in Maine and not so many Biden/Harris signs. A sign of things to come?
We arrived at our land at 12:30 p.m. It was 65 degrees and mostly sunny with a light breeze. All my worries & fears went away when we pulled into the RV pad & looked down at the water. So incredibly beautiful & so peaceful. We couldn’t stop smiling. I took this picture from inside the RV as a reminder to us of how it felt.
We released the girls from their prison, got out their food & water, and they were happy, too. We ate our crab quiche, then set up camp. Our windows are open & we are not coughing from nearby campfire smoke. Sigh. All is well.
Out to the cliff to have our happy hour overlooking the Harbor. It was 60 degrees and sunny at 6 p.m. We had more crab quiche for dinner, read our books, and off to pleasant dreams.

Welcome, welcome!!! Luv, D and T
