HEADING FOR HOME: MAINE, NH, MA.

Day 197 – BRRR! 22 degrees this morning at 6:45 a.m. We spent a leisurely morning at the campground – we were waiting for the Maine Beer Company in Freeport to open. They have a seasonal dark beer called “Mean Old Tom”, a Stout that Rob likes, and they had it in stock; Rob had been unsuccessful getting it at times in the past, so we wanted to stop by on our way out of town to get a couple of six-packs.

93 miles, (3:20), 43874-43967

The sun was out with very little wind, so it “warmed up” quickly. It was 35 degrees at 11 a.m. when we left the campground. We stopped in Freeport & got Rob’s beer. Even though summer is long over, we were amazed at how crowded the city was. After spending all that time in Newfoundland, we still are not used to crowds.

We headed south on I-95, crossed into New Hampshire, and drove to the NH State Outlet Wine & Liquor Store, stopping for our lunch & a break for the kitties in their parking lot. Not to be outdone, I had some wine to stock up on, LOL. This is a yearly stop for us; the selection & the prices at this outlet can’t be beat. We filled the RV with wine, ho ho – a 30′ RV can hold a lot, ho ho. We continued south on I-95, soon crossing into Massachusetts.

Bye Maine!

We arrived at Salisbury Beach State Reservation at 2:20 p.m.  It was 38 degrees and sunny – that was the high for the day. The campground was not completely closed down yet, there was no one in the office but a sign said they were still open Thursday thru Saturday. The water had been turned off but there were still electrical hook-ups. There were only a few campers here. We chose site #D40 & set up camp. We’ve stayed here many times before. Sometimes they are open & sometimes they aren’t, but it always works out.
