MAINE.

Mon., 10/28, Day 185:  The fires are raging again in California. GOOD LUCK, ANN, and to everyone else who may be effected! We went to dinner at Frank’s Dockside in Lubec with our friends, Michael & Suzanne. They are leaving soon for the season. It was great seeing you both again & SAFE TRIP!

Tues., 10/29, Day 186:  It barely reached 50 degrees today. We ran errands in town, going to the Post Office, getting the external propane tanks filled for the RV, and getting some supplies for the fish tacos we made tonight. YUM!

Wed., 10/30, Day 187:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GAYLE!  Today was cloudy with no wind & we sat out in the tent for a while. Rob did more trail work & completed this stage of the project. He has done an amazing job! He’s been taking pictures, so once he’s finished completely, we’ll post the before & after shots. After that, the work will be done by contractors – installing stairs & a platform from the end of the trail to the water. Next week we have representatives from the Land Use Planning Commission (LUPC) coming out to advise us since we have Shoreland Zoning here. And on Saturday we’ll be meeting with a contractor. The high was 56 degrees.

Thurs., 10/31, Day 188:  We are the last of the “seasonal visitors” staying here this season. That’s never happened before. Usually people stay into the winter beyond when we leave. It is very quiet, yet the lobster fishermen still go out daily to empty & set traps. The harbor is never dull. Today was warmish & windy with heavy rain at times. Wind gusts are supposed to increase until tomorrow afternoon; tomorrow won’t be a fun day. It reached 60 degrees today & only dropped to 52 last night. In the morning before the wind picked up, we went to Machias to get a 16′ ladder to give Rob & potential contractors access to the cliff area. When in town, pulling into Subway, we saw reflected in their window that one of our headlights was out in the Honda. Convenient that we were very near the auto parts store! Coming back to the RV, we are hunkering down for the weather.
