MAINE.

Mon., 10/21, Day 178:  A beautiful day today, it was 39 degrees when we got up & the high actually reached 61 degrees, sunny with low wind. We went out to dinner last night with our friends, Michael & Suzanne. We went to Frank’s Dockside in Lubec. It was really nice to eat something other than our own cooking for a change. Great food & great company, thanks Michael &Suzanne! Today with the nice weather, we took a leisurely drive to Eastport for our yearly trip to stock up on Raye’s Mustard. Eastport is fairly close to Lubec, the town closest to us – it is just across the Bay. But it takes about an hour to get to Eastport by road. The drive was nice, though. We took side roads & enjoyed some fall foliage. We also did other shopping in Eastport & had lunch at the Waco Diner. It was the only place open this time of year on a Monday; the food was very good. When we returned home in the afternoon, we went out to the screened tent. Very nice! The cats are relaxing & enjoying it here – we got a few pictures of them basking in the sun.

Tues., 10/22, Day 179:  Today it was windy & cloudy, 38 degrees in the morning & it didn’t get above 52 degrees all day. Another storm supposedly coming in later tonight. Rob worked some more outside on his latest project. And nothing else much going on. With tomorrow’s forecasted wind & rain, we’ll probably make our first trip into Machias since we’ve been back this fall. Nothing like a little shopping to help avoid the winds at the RV.

Wed., 10/23, Day 180:  Yes, a very stormy day. High winds & lots of rain. We drove to Lubec,  dropped off the recyclable trash & then picked up something from the Hardware Store (these small town Hardware Stores are great – they have everything!)  We went to Machias for other shopping: the Health Store; the grocery shopping; the Machias Marketplace (farmer’s market); the Machias Hardware Store; the wine & beer store; and had lunch at the cafe at the health store – a panini, quiche & a side salad – YUM. Our friends at Riverside Take-Out, home of the Monster Fish Sandwich, were gone (sorry we missed you guys!); they’ve closed for the season. Machias is a decent-sized College town about 45 minutes from our land. It’s nice to go there when we have larger loads of shopping at several different places. It continued with the rain & wind most of the day.

Thurs., 10/24, Day 181:  It was 42 degrees & a bit windy this morning. The clouds & rain were gone; the sun was out. It turned out to be a beautiful day with a high of 61 degrees. We took a drive in the morning to Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada. The Island is just across the bridge from Lubec. We drove all over the Island, taking back roads we’d never been on before. We usually visit Campobello at least once a year & that’s usually to go whale watching from Head Harbour. The whale watching is done for the season now which gave us more of an opportunity to visit the whole Island. We saw several Bald Eagles. It was gorgeous out. We came back to the RV for lunch, then went out to the screened tent for the rest of the afternoon.

Great shot of three cats squeezed onto one heating pad! Before you took the picture……as they were getting situated……I can hear them saying to each other……”Move over! Move over!”

      Hi Mark!
That’s so true. It is not all sweetness here. There was alot of “move over” going on! Finally they settled in, but maybe not as contented as they looked. While we’re at it, I can kinda see Brophy saying “move over” to you and/or Mark, too!
