NEWFOUNDLAND – GANDER TO TWILLINGATE.

Day 79 – This morning was partly cloudy & 58 degrees at 8 a.m.  The campground was very noisy last night, but Saturday nights are often like that. We left the campground for our next destination at 11:10 a.m.

It was the same road trip that we made yesterday to scope out campgrounds. We did get a few pictures today. The sun came out more & it was quite pretty as we neared Twillingate. There were a lot of smaller villages at the end of narrow roads, but we we’re saving them for one of our exploring days. Small islands dotted the waters of the bays as far as you could see in the distance. Deep blue water, dark green spruces, the red rock of the cliff-sides:  really nice.

As we approached Twillingate the sprawl increased, as did the crowds, although we didn’t see as many tour buses today. The whole area was picturesque but there was definitely the touristy-thing going on with rows of advertisements & large signs for Helicopter Tours, B&B’s, Dinner Theatre, Crafts, “………Adventure Tours; whalewatching excursion includes fish ‘n chips”, Fresh Lobster, “Icebergman Tours”, etc.

We arrived at our campground, Peyton’s Woods RV Park, at 12:45 p.m.  It was 65 degrees & sunny with a little breeze – VERY nice. We set up at our site, #46, feeling lucky that we’d reserved a spot yesterday. RV’s continued to arrive throughout the afternoon. We had our lunch & Rob put up the screened tent. We sat out there for most of the afternoon. It was a good day.
