NEWFOUNDLAND – ST. ANTHONY TO RODDICKTON/BIDE ARM.

Day 34 – It was 37 degrees at 7 a.m. and very cloudy. We departed Triple Falls RV Park at 11:15 a.m. after dumping tanks, and it was 36 degrees with a little wind. We drove west on Route 430, then southwest on Route 432, and then south on Route 433. This was the same route we took day before yesterday when we explored two campgrounds south of St. Anthony. The route goes inland away from the coves and icebergs, but we’ll be curving back around towards new coves & hopefully some more icebergs.

KAREN! CONGRATULATIONS! WILL WRITE WHEN WE HAVE A GOOD SIGNAL. WE LOVE YOU! HUGS FROM CANADA!

Day 33 – Rob was up at 7:55; I was up at 8:30. 37 degrees, raining. Well, it looks like as good a bad-weather day as any. We will go in to St. Anthony, do laundry, and grocery shopping, get propane if available, and take advantage of a phone signal. Rob made Espresso this morning. Now that made the day brighter!

NEWFOUNDLAND – ST. ANTHONY EXPLORATORY TRIP SOUTH.

Day 32 – It rained last night and was 34 degrees this morning & very foggy. The wind made it all the more frigid out. Around 10 a.m. we left to go to St. Anthony where we could get a cell phone signal. We had business to take care of. Rob managed to get ahold of someone at the Provincial Parks Service, and he got an update on the opening schedule for the Park we want to stay at, Pistolet Bay Provincial Park, north of here. Due to the snow still on the ground, it will be opening later than schedule, now maybe June 7 or later. Since we won’t be able to move to Pistolet Bay soon, we’ll be going south today to check out two parks below us. Maybe one of them will be open and some place we’d want to stay at until Pistolet Bay opens.

NEWFOUNDLAND – ST. ANTHONY EXPLORATORY TRIP NORTH.

Day 31 – Happy Memorial Day everyone! We hope you are enjoying your holiday! Memorial Day is not a Canadian holiday so it’s business as usual here. But it’s also May 27:  TRIP #6 BEGAN 1 MONTH AGO. It is so hard for us to believe we’ve only been gone from home one month! We’ve totally immersed ourselves into this trip; it seems like we’ve been gone much longer. See the bottom of today’s post for the one-month recap of our journey.

Note:  We have no internet and no cell phone connection again. Therefore, once we’ve moved to a different campground & have received a signal again, we’ll send out the blog posts all together.  Sorry!

NEWFOUNDLAND – PORT AU CHOIX TO ST. ANTHONY.

Day 30 – Rob was up at 6:30 a.m. this morning, 44 degrees & partly cloudy. I got up at 7:30. He went over to the rocks on the beach to get pictures of Eider Ducks. They were floating around right in front of the RV.

NEWFOUNDLAND – DEER LAKE TO PORT AU CHOIX.

Day 29 – Sensory overload! The scenery we saw today beat everything we’ve seen so far. It is now 6 p.m. We are at our campground; the RV is parked about 20 yards from the rocky beach. The waves from the Gulf of St. Lawrence are coming in & lapping on the shore. The sun is shining brightly over the water, making it sparkle. Snow is in the mountains just south of us. There is snow on the shores, too, in places, sparkling white. The water is deep blue; the sky is a lighter shade of blue. We are sitting here watching for whales. And this is nothing compared to what we saw driving through Gros Morne National Park.

NEWFOUNDLAND – PORT AUX BASQUES TO DEER LAKE.

Day 28 – There was no wind this morning. What a concept. At 7 a.m. it was 34 degrees and sunny. We’re looking forward to getting on the road again. What was supposed to be a fairly quick stopover, turned into 4 nights here. But this was a very good campground to be staying in for the longer period of time.

NEWFOUNDLAND – PORT AUX BASQUES & VICIINITY.

Day 27 – The sun was glaringly bright in the RV this morning, almost could have gotten a sunburn. Rob was up at 7:20, 37 degrees, sun & wind. He took a hike and got some great shots with the camera. It had clouded up some by 9:30, still windy, we don’t know what the weather is going to do without the phone/internet.

NEWFOUNDLAND – CAPE RAY TO CODROY VALLEY.

Day 26 – Wreckhouse Winds? Yep! And huge amounts of rain. All night long. 38 degrees this morning, still raining, still windy. We figured we’d be staying inside all day. At close to noon, the sun came out (glory be!), the wind died down to maybe 15 MPH, and it stopped raining. The girls migrated to the dashboard area; we had a quick lunch and headed out.
