KAREN! CONGRATULATIONS! WILL WRITE WHEN WE HAVE A GOOD SIGNAL. WE LOVE YOU! HUGS FROM CANADA!

Day 33 – Rob was up at 7:55; I was up at 8:30. 37 degrees, raining. Well, it looks like as good a bad-weather day as any. We will go in to St. Anthony, do laundry, and grocery shopping, get propane if available, and take advantage of a phone signal. Rob made Espresso this morning. Now that made the day brighter!

We left the RV around 11 a.m., sufficiently caffeinated to get the job done. When we are on the road, we do laundry once a month (we bring enough clothes, towels, bedding, etc. to make that possible). Therefore, laundry day is not for the weak-hearted, nor for people who are feeling tired & listless. LOL. This was also a decent-sized grocery haul, enough for probably ten days to two weeks. There won’t be many shopping options where we are headed next. And green & bright-colored vegetables are hard to come by anywhere around here this time of year unless you buy frozen. They do grow root vegetables here. Right now you can get carrots & potatoes, and later in the year we assume, we’ll be able to get squash & peppers. It’s hard to find a decent red onion. Sweet onions (Vidalia), forget about it. Lettuce is only iceberg and romaine from California. You want Red Lettuce, a Spring Mix? Ha ha ha. We are adjusting our recipes as best we can.

Laundry was very time-consuming. The only Laundromat within at least a two-hours drive only had 3 washers & 3 dryers. Took us forever! But I must say, things were very clean & the washers were environmentally friendly & got the clothes clean. There was no propane refill in town, just the trade-in kind. Because of the cold temperatures, we’re using more propane than usual. There is propane available at our next destination; Rob saw a place when we scouted out the campground yesterday.

It rained lightly throughout the day. There was very little wind. It didn’t seem as cold today. The high today was 42 degrees. Once we finally got back to the RV with chores completed, we relaxed a little. Tomorrow we leave for our next campground, and our next group of coves with their small fishing towns to explore. We heard Loons calling from the lake nearby. This is the second time we’ve heard them (but not seen them) since we’ve been here.

Triple Falls RV Park:  Route 430, 7 km from St. Anthony; (709) 454-2599 or (709) 454-1535; website www.triplefallsrvpark.com; e-mail triplefallsrvpark@gmail.com. Opened May 20 (2019) till October 15. Although they’d been open for about a week and snow had been mostly cleared from the campground road, the laundry facilities that were advertised as part of the amenities were not available for use; water was just becoming available to the campsites. Most of the large campground was for seasonal campers, and the care taken with these sites showed that seasonals were their priority. We were offered our choice of about 10 campsites near the entrance and campground office when we arrived. Several of them had too much snow in them to be used, They advertise picnic tables & fire pits at each campsite; not true during our visit. But then again, it was very early in the season. We had electrical & water hook-ups; a dump station was available within the campground. This is the closest campground to St. Anthony, therefore the location was good. It was also the only campground open for business the date we arrived. We chose site #96 in the transient section close to the office. We were fairly close to the main highway, actually the only highway into St. Anthony, but due to the time of the year, traffic noise wasn’t a problem. Customer service was good enough, but most of the time that we were here, the owners were not in the office. There are 150 campsites here. They are located near waterfalls which lead to a salmon-stocked large pond. Fishing is big here, so are seasonal RV campers. In-season the price is high compared to what we’ve experienced in NF thus far, but we were charged $35 per night, Canadian currency (which is still kinda high). We would stay here again if we needed to be near St. Anthony and/or we were travelling before other campgrounds were open.
