LAST DAY IN LOUISVILLE.
Day 81 – It was 33 degrees at 7:30 this morning & sunny. Pam had to work in the morning so we got some stuff done at the RV, then drove to her house around 1:30. We all had some shopping to do; the 3 of us headed out in our car (without a dog today because it was going to be warm enough that the pup might get too hot).
Traffic in Louisville was much worse during the week, compared with the weekend. It took awhile to get to the stores. We went shopping at the excellent health food store, Rainbow Blossom, all of us getting everything there that we needed. That was a good thing because we didn’t have to go to Whole Foods which would’ve been more driving and more crowds. Then Pam directed us to a really nice pet store, Feeders Supply. After shopping there, we went to our campground, across the Ohio River in Indiana. After getting our food put away in the freezer & refrigerator, we hung out at the RV & she got to visit with the girls. We were proud of them because they were friendly and not big scaredy cats.
We waited for the work traffic to decrease and then left for Louisville. We had dinner at our favorite pizza place in Louisville, the same one we go to every year since we’ve been coming here, Impellizzeri’s Pizza. We love this place & all of us ordered enough pizza to take another dinner home with us. We’ll be on the road tomorrow, so it’ll be perfect to have dinner already made!
Back to Pam’s house after dinner, she put up her groceries & dog food and we hung out for a little while with the Grand-Doggies. We will miss them and Pam. We had a great time, Pam; THANKS. The high today was 65 degrees, no wind, sunny. There was still almost no one camped at the State Park. It’s a beautiful, large Park; we were happy to have the place to ourselves.
Charlestown State Park: 12500 State Road 62, Charlestown, IN 47111, (812) 256-5600, www.dnr.in.gov. We’ve stayed at this Park two other times. It’s a wonderful campground & we’ll continue to camp here everytime we visit Louisville, KY. Because it was early in the year & still cold at times, it was not crowded. The first year we camped here it was almost a month later in the year & the Park was busier, all amenities were available, and the whole campground was open. Last year when we stayed here it was earlier in March and there was no water available due to the problem with pipes freezing. Also, only one section of the campground was open. This year water was available & several loops were open, but not the whole campground. It really depends on the time of year as to what you’ll find. This is the link to the campground review from 2017; it has more information. Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
