Day 117 – It rained most of the night & was still raining when we got up at 7 a.m.  55 degrees. Rob had to skip his coffee by the cliff due to the rain, but that allowed him to get an early start on the “yard” work once the rain stopped. He loves doing this stuff. I’m glad he does; I like the results.

I forgot to mention yesterday’s waves. There had been a Heavy Surf Warning from NOAA Weather for yesterday. The waves were crashing on the cliffs & rocks and we could really hear it from the RV & tent. We were tempted to go out there & take a look, probably should have, but we were too lazy.

Back to today, Rob finished up the final section of trees between the trail & the harbor. There’s still more clearing to be done above the trail – between the RV & the trail – but not much. We have a wonderful view of the harbor now, and the forest looks so nice cleaned up, much easier to walk thru. We’re leaving the rest of the property as it is currently, from the road to the original trailer pad. The woods are still pretty dense by the road. He has other projects lined up for himself once he’s finished with the tree work:  he wants to complete the last trail which will end at the edge of the cliff near the water, he’s doing work on the post at the beginning of the driveway, and my main work will begin with using the Mighty chipper/shredder to turn the cut, dead brush & trees into wood chips so Rob can use the chips to cover & preserve the trails. We are putting it back into the land.

The sun only came out very briefly in the late afternoon, then was covered back up with the clouds. Most of the afternoon it was fairly windy. The high today was 57 degrees. We stayed inside later & played Backgammon until time for dinner. Pesto over Pasta & garlic bread.

Suzanne called. It looks like a small group from the road is getting together on Saturday to go whalewatching. Rumor has it that the Humpbacks are still in the area. Soon people will begin to pack up their cottages & head back home for the winter. It’ll be nice to see folks together again. And of course, we never turn down the opportunity to see more whales!
