TRIP #4 – BACK UP & RUNNING!
Day 47 – When we last posted to the Blog, we were putting this trip on hold until Rob got back from California. We are very happy to be back on the road. We departed home in NY at 9:45 a.m. It was 70 degrees, partly cloudy and a little humid, much cooler & less humid than it had been the last couple of weeks at home. And it rained a lot in NY – everything was SO green at home.

The girls were not happy to leave. Funny, because when we first got home, they appeared to prefer being in the RV. We decided to take backroads through the farmlands and country rather than the NYS Thruway & the Mass. Turnpike. We weren’t in a hurry, and it felt really good to be traveling again. Not a good decision for the cats, though. The winding & sometimes very bumpy roads did not make for a restful trip for them & they complained for a little while when we first started out.
The scenery was beautiful, everything so green & lush, and because of the recent rains, the creeks & rivers were full & rushing by. We eventually left NY and headed into the Berkshires of Massachusetts – a beautiful mountain drive. We stopped for lunch at a pull-out & the kitties were immediately drawn to the dashboard, that old familiar place. All was good again.

We arrived at our campground, the same one we stay at often when heading north, Traveler’s Woods in Bernardston, MA, at 2:30 p.m. It was 79 degrees, partly cloudy, & a little humid. Using our Passport America discount, it was only $12.50 for a campsite with water & electric hook-ups. We had site #23.

We set up camp & put out the awning to block the bright sun. Then we kicked back to relax. The girls were napping on the dashboard for the remainder of the afternoon, the “trauma” of today’s initial drive was long out of their minds.
We had an early dinner of Garlic Shrimp Burritos, brought from home courtesy of Mexicali Blue Take-out in New Paltz. The high today was 82 degrees. Very quiet at the campground.
