Thursday, phew, another hot one, 92 degrees again. But not as bad as yesterday because around noon, we got a healthy breeze. Hot air is better than no air. At least when it’s really hot, the mosquitoes don’t come out as much!
We went in to Machias in the morning, picked up some wonderful Seed Bread & veggies from the Marketplace, cheeses from the health store, and groceries from the regular store. Having A/C in the car was wonderful – the things we take for granted! Traffic and tourists have picked up – summer in Downeast Maine has arrived. We rewarded ourselves with fresh fish from Riverside Take-out.
Back to the RV and the heat. But with the wind & the movement of the air, it was better for sure than yesterday. The temperature began dropping around sunset & it got down to 65 degrees at night. YAAA!
Friday, heat wave over. 100% humidity and rain. High of 75 degrees. But the mosquitoes are loving it & are out in full force. The girls are pretty good about spotting a mosquito in the RV, sometimes before we do. And they are happier, too, that it’s cooled off & it’s not such an effort to move around.
This morning before it started raining, a beautiful Loon was floating out in the Bay. And yesterday, Rob got pictures of Cormorants again.

We went into Lubec in the afternoon to drop off the recyclable trash and to the Post Office to get our mail which had been forwarded from Florida. We have to leave this campground tomorrow – have to be gone by 11 a.m., so running errands today. If there wasn’t a limit on how long someone could camp, we’d stay here even longer. We can beat most of the heat and most of the bugs here. We haven’t yet decided where we’re going next.
Back to the RV, the rain stopped and the humidity slowly lowered. After some phone calls & some bill-paying, we relaxed and enjoyed the cooler weather. Rob was fooling around taking pictures of Gracie; she finally said, “CUT THAT OUT!”
