MEEP……MEEP.

Day 167 – Soon after we got up this morning, a large bird was scurrying around the campsite – a very large bird with a long tail. So he didn’t scare it away, Rob took pictures through the RV windows. Meep, meep, meep; yep, it was a Roadrunner. They are actually very pretty.  And where was Wiley Coyote? Maybe we’ll see him later!

Yesterday we entered the Central Standard Time Zone and lost an hour, we need to adjust our brains AND our clocks. Today, it was 7:45 a.m. CST when I got up & Rob had gotten up shortly before that. 34 degrees and very foggy. The wind had decreased during the night & it had rained. The heavy fog lifted about 10:30, some sun but very cloudy, 42 degrees & breezy. Rob put the Texas sticker on the U.S. travel map. We’ve washed our hair & done some cleaning in the RV.  Now to do some chopping & slicing prep work for tonight’s salads-in-a-wrap. Then we’ll head out for some exploring; at least a drive around the Lake.

Added Texas

Okay, we drove northweat over the dam into the desert country on the west side of Lake Meredith, stopping at various campgrounds to see if they were okay to bring the RV in.  NO. Most roads were inaccesible with an RV. And, in addition to the fact that we were almost out of gas in the Honda, we quickly determined that the park we were at, Sanford-Yake, was the best campground for us. We turned around and headed back to the small city of Fritch, to get gas before we were stranded on a road where no one ever goes. Back to the RV after filling the Honda with gas, we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening looking into which direction we would head next. We opened the wine & beer as we searched books & the computer for the   wildlife refuges & campgrounds that might be in our path, making it more likely we’d end up in Alaska or Newfoundland shortly, ho ho. The high today was 58 degrees and it was somewhat windy. We didn’t take pictures because we were too concerned that we might run out of gas. A fun day, At any rate, we did some successful trip planning and made decisions as to where we were going next. Lots of Wildlife Refuges in our future…………………..
