SMOKE ON THE WATER.
Day 93 – It was 34 degrees this morning, quite hazy & breezy. Brrrrr. The sun seemed far away & was unsuccessful in burning though the haze. We had thought about going kayaking this morning but decided to put it off a day or two when hopefully the sun will be back out in all its glory.
We decided to take a drive to scope out parks, campgrounds, trails, etc. It never did seem to warm up even in the afternoon although the high reached 60 degrees. We stopped at a bakery that had been recommended to us, Two Fish at Stewart’s Point, to get sandwiches to eat later. While we were waiting for the sandwiches, we tried the excellent sticky bun that they are known for. Yep, it was sticky and oh, so good. We drove south on the scenic Highway 1, & for a change, only took 1 dirt road off the beaten path. We stopped at scenic turnouts overlooking rivers & the Ocean, checked out several campgrounds, one right on the beach, and several in Bodega Bay. The campgrounds were surprisingly full considering it’s only Tuesday. We had our lunch overlooking the rocky coastline and listened to the crashing waves below.
At the end of the road past the Westside Regional Park in Bodega Bay, we took a nice hike to the top of the hill overlooking the Bay & the Ocean beyond. The seals & sea lions were squawking in the distance as the fishing boats returned to the port. It was cold & a little windy so we headed back to the car & drove back to the RV, stopping to take pictures of the strange sun as it appeared to be setting due to the smoke over the water. Everything looked so murky.
We were happy to get back to the RV and warm up. The kitties were happy to see us. Maybe we’ll do that kayaking tomorrow……
