Day 79 – 38 degrees this morning at 7:30 a.m. Brrrrr. We hung around the RV until after lunch. The kitties enjoyed that & we had things to do. Like dealing with this furnace issue at home.
Yesterday when the energy company had an employee (Joe) come out to evaluate whether we needed a new furnace, he flipped a switch to reset the furnace & the heat came back on. This morning it had failed again & the temperature inside the house was 44 degrees. Another call to the energy company & they promised to send someone out to look at it again.
Joe, who visited yesterday, called about whether we need to get a new furnace & Rob discussed oil vs. propane with him. Joe said our furnace was in good condition considering that model stopped being made in the 1970s, but yes, we certainly will need to replace it at some time. He’s going to get back to us with quotes on how much it would cost for us to replace it with a new oil furnace AND replace the old oil tank, and how much it would cost to get rid of the oil tank & switch to propane. Rob is doing research on one versus the other. Meanwhile, a technician came back out to the house today & replaced the oil pump. The question is, since we’ve now basically rebuilt the furnace with new parts, if it continues working now, do we need to replace it at all? Time will tell………..
We went to Ukiah to the Amazon Locker at the local Safeway grocery store, also getting some groceries while we were there. Amazon Locker is a convenient way to receive orders from Amazon when you can’t receive the orders at home. The order is shipped by Amazon to a locker located in various cities where it is held until you can pick it up there.
We spent the remainder of the day putzing about doing chores & relaxing, both. The high today was only 51 degrees, mostly cloudy, but this morning the girls enjoyed sun on the dashboard for their naps. Tomorrow we move to Hendy Woods State Park. We miss the redwood forests.
