Day 75 – We were up at 7:30 a.m., 55 degrees, partly cloudy. We have an internet & phone connection, fancy that. After two weeks of very little, if any, connections we had lots of catching up to do. It’s open enrollment time for benefits for both of us, we needed to set up  general delivery for our mail that’s accumulated in our box at the mail service place, we needed to order a few items from Amazon & find a place where we could have them delivered, and the blog needed to be finalized & published. We were way behind with catching up on e-mail & texts, and we needed to find a Honda dealership so that we could buy some brake fluid. Busy day ahead. We’d been able to slack off with no connections & now we were paying for it.

The girls seem to like it here just fine. Hopefully the sun will come out and bake them on the dashboard later. Gracie & Java slept together last night, Pixie & Luna visited us in bed during the night. No heated pads for them but it wasn’t cold last night; the weather forecast is for temperatures at night as low as 35 degrees in about a week.

Gracie and Java. Aaaaww!

We got a lot of our chores done, but found that the Honda parts office was closed for the holiday weekend. Put that one off until Monday. The internet connections became too slow, so blog work stopped for the time being. We’ve been watching new campers arrive, circle the campground, pick a site & set up. We’re up to five or six sites occupied now. It clouded up, no rain is forecast for today still. We had lunch, then went out for a drive around the Lake to familiarize ourselves with the area.

It was a short drive compared to our recent eight-hour days. A road only goes around about half of Lake Mendocino. We drove through neighborhoods in the town of Calpella & as the mostly-smaller, older homes decreased, the more the fields of grapes increased. This community by the Lake was nestled in rolling hills of Oak & Madrona trees plus brush & long grasses. Very soon after the Lake road ended, we were in the larger city of Ukiah. Highway 101 runs through Ukiah on its way to Santa Rosa. We stopped at Lake Mendocino at both the other campgrounds and boat launches. Both campgrounds were closed for the season, but the boat launch & Day Use Area at the lower campground were quite busy. Parking spaces were full, people were either fishing, sitting by the Lake, or launching their boats. And this was a Friday in November.

We got gas in the Honda at an Indian Reservation & Casino; gas was much cheaper there. Then, back at the RV, we sat outside on our hill. One camper left, another one checked in, & the noisy bunch returned from a day at the lake & beach. The high today was 64 degrees & it was cloudy; the sun barely peeked out.
