Day 41 – 7 a.m., 63 degrees, sunny; it rained last night and hopefully that’ll lift the humidity a bit. We sat around for awhile with our coffee, then Rob went for a bike ride. He wanted to go out to the eagle’s nest to see if there was anything interesting going on. Also, thought he’d try the trail that runs the non-lake side of this Park.  (Me? Friday, after we arrived I was walking the site and looking up at the trees and not at where I was going. I tripped on a hole in the ground and fell, twisting my knee. Not a bad fall at all, but those that know my history are aware of my knee problems and know a slight twist can mess it up for awhile. I’ve been laying low and not biking or getting in/out of the kayak, been doing ice and the anti-inflammatory thing & wishing Stephanie was here for some acupuncture. Hoping to be back up and taking advantage of this place soon!)

Rob came back from his bike ride; he did see 1 eagle in the nest. Warm and humid, the clouds are coming in. Supposed to be thunderstorms later so we headed out to the screened tent. Lots of activity in the campground as people prepare to leave – the weekend party is over and back to work for them. By late afternoon the campground is almost empty and very quiet. Since we arrived, Rob’s been taking pictures of a male Downy Woodpecker and we’ve been watching its progress as it carves out a hole in a nearby tree, making a nest, and hopefully enticing a mate.  He’ll probably post the pix on our last day. It’s hard out there for a woodpecker.
It got darker & cloudier out; we decided to come inside and closed up the tent. Within minutes a downpour began and didn’t let up for awhile. The temperature had dropped 15 degrees and everything had a steamy, dewy look as the sun set.  High today 82 degrees & humid.
