Day 7 – Another sunny day, 45 degrees at 6:30 in the morning.  Rob usually gets up between 6 and 7 since he’s retired, 5:30 when he was working.  I am NOT a morning person at home but am having no problem getting up earlier while travelling.  Must be because we’re going to bed earlier or maybe it’s just exciting to see what the next day brings?

We finally got an internet connection so Rob hopes to get the blog up and running, and I hope to finalize reservations for the trip.  Rob made our first espresso of the trip – we got a Minipresso espresso press (link to Minipresso site) and it’s great to have Starbuck’s on the road (Lin, this picture is for you)!

The Minipresso makes a delicious shot of espresso!

Took a drive this afternoon, very interesting, down to the end of this peninsula on very small country roads:  houses on stilts, swamps, cypress trees, QUITE different from NY!  Trenches (or ditches, as the locals call them) are dug deeply on both sides of every road to help prevent flooding.  You are right at sea level here.  Made us think of hurricanes and how devastating it must be.  Saw our first bald eagle of the trip.  High of 63 degrees today, sunny and breezy

Finished the day off with pizza from the little Pizza and Wings place by the campground office.  Perfect!  End of Week One.  We’re really on our way!
