Day 3 – It’s weird. Neither of us feel yet like wow, we’re retired. It feels like we are on a one or two week vacation. But what was really strange was when we left the house – knowing we wouldn’t be back home for more than 3 months. Guess it all just needs to settle in…….
28 degrees and clear last night. Luna slept with us all night; normally she cuddles with Gracie but I think we were warmer. We left for Gail’s at 10:15 a.m., hung out there for awhile, then went to the Tidewater Inn for lunch. It was VERY good and such a beautiful environment. The best crab corn chowder I have ever had. We relaxed with Gail over lunch, then went to run a couple of errands with her. Back to her house and visited until we had to leave later in the afternoon. Very nice to see Gail and Keely doing so well!

Wanted to get back to the RV and pack up for our journey to North Carolina tomorrow. We’d notified the owners of G & R that we’d need water and they had it turned on for us when we got back to camp. Rob dumped the tanks and we got more water in them for the next stage of our journey. Nice relaxing evening in the RV tonight. No dinner, we were still full from lunch. High today 39 degrees in Easton, windy & cold & cloudy. Even a few flurries of snow.
One thing has been bothering Rob though. He had set up a system at home so that we could monitor the house online. We can see if someone comes to the front door, up the driveway, or into the house. We get an alarm if there’s a disturbance of any kind. Also, we can monitor the temperature inside the house, the humidity, know if the power is out, etc., and can actually raise or lower the thermostat if needed. Rob had noticed that even though we had set the heat to 50 degrees in the house, and subsequently raised it to 55 degrees due to the very cold winter temperatures, the house was gradually getting colder and colder, not maintaining the temperatures at all. Several possibilities had him worried including the monitoring system was not working correctly or the thermostat wasn’t working correctly, or worse yet – the pipes had frozen or were partially freezing or the oil burner wasn’t working and couldn’t maintain the heat. We decided to sleep on it one more night, see if it improved, and if not, deal with it. Was it another omen?
