Day 329 – It was 50 degrees this morning when we got up. It had rained steadily throughout the night. Lots of campers left this morning – their holiday was over. We stayed at the RV during the morning, and went out in the afternoon.

Day 328 – When we got up this morning, it was clearer out, like maybe they had gotten the fire under control. The air wasn’t as smoky either. It was supposed to be cooler from today on, and it was supposed to rain some tonight and tomorrow; both weather changes would help with the fire.

Day 327 – It was 53 degrees today and hazy outside with smoke. As the day wore on, we could not see the mountains at all due to the smoke and it smelled like burning wood outside. We have an air quality warning. The high today was 92 degrees which is a nightmare for the people fighting the fire. The wind has not shifted our way, thank goodness. The sun has been shining all day but it hasn’t been able to shine thru the smoke. The picture below is from first thing this morning. Although hazy with smoke, you could still see the mountains from our campsite. By noon, you could not.
JASPER.
Day 326 – We got up early this morning in order to be waiting out front of the registration office at the campground for a tour bus. There are more tours of various kinds offered in the Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise areas than you can imagine. There are many huge buses on the roads filled with tourists. There are even more smaller van/buses driving around filled with tourists. That, and the sheer number of people here for the holiday weekend, make it difficult to go anywhere – or at least it will be that way for a few days.

Day 325 – It was 59 degrees at 7:05 a.m. this morning. More campers had come in during the night and the campground was getting busier. We’re leaving – we timed that one right. The Canadians celebrate Labor Day on the first Monday in September, also. We’ve got a 3-day weekend coming up.
