A NEW ADVENTURE BEGINS.
Day 1 – We left at 11:15 this morning, starting up Trip #6. We have big smiles on our faces now. Grin…….It was 47 degrees, windy & cloudy. The kitties knew where they were right away and didn’t seem to mind the drive; they just cuddled up all together and went to sleep on the bed. Our plan was to keep the drives down most days as much as possible. It’s easier on all of us that way.

We drove north and east out of New York and into Massachusetts. Soon after we left it began raining. We’d had lots of rain recently and all the rivers & streams were running high. As we climbed into the Berkshires in MA, the temperatures dropped into the 30’s and it began to snow; it was windy & the snow was blowing sideways. As soon as we got out of the Berkshire hills, the temperature rose again & it stopped snowing. We arrived at our campground at 3:10 p.m., almost 4 hours of driving with stops for lunch and to get gas in the RV. That was even a longer drive than we wanted to make.

We stayed at Traveler’s Woods of New England in Bernardston, MA, fairly close to the Vermont border. We’ve stayed here before & we like it – it’s a great stopping point for one night. The Park is always clean and it’s easy in, easy out. The campground wasn’t very crowded, particularly for a Saturday night, but then again it’s way off-season still. We had water & electrical hook-ups; they have a dump station. We were also able to fill up with propane at the Park. That was convenient. It had stopped raining and the high today was 50 degrees. Tomorrow we plan to relax in the morning, then drive the rest of the way thru MA to near the New Hampshire border.

This is a great campground for a one-day layover. It’s not too far from home and it helps to break up the long journey from West to East in MA. It’s nicely landscaped and extremely well maintained. They honor Passport America but not on the weekend. Even without Passport America’s discount, they are not expensive. There are many seasonal sites but most of the people are older and very quiet. There is, however, noise from I-91. Still, we would definitely stay here again. No sewer hook-ups but two dumping stations. Electric & water hook-ups, 20/30/50 amps. The Falls River is close by. To determine when to check in, call them to see if your assigned site will be occupied the night previous to your arrival. Check out time in 2 p.m.

Hi Diane and Ted, Thanks! We’re anxious to see the land in a few days! Planning on being there for a few days, then off to Canada for the next four months or so. Hoping to see icebergs, whales, and possibly Polar Bears in Newfoundland and Labrador!
