Day 128 – The gusty winds continue, 36 degrees this morning. Sustained winds of 20-25 MPH are expected around noon through 3 or 4 p.m. with much higher gusts expected. The lobster boats are not going out today! The water in the Harbor (which is usually quite calm, even glassy), is rough & flowing by rapidly. BRRRRR……
Today is Machias Marketplace day. At 9:45 when we departed, the sun had come out, very windy, 38 degrees. Just one week ago the fall colors were brilliant, even in the rain, but now most of the colorful leaves have blown off. Is this an early winter? We got our bread & fresh veggies, then went to the regular grocery store for other things. Our favorite stop on Thursdays for lunch & fish to go is closed for the season now. We already miss them!
Back to the RV, noon, 40 degrees, partly sunny, very windy. On the way home, Rob thought he saw a couple of snow flakes. While we were eating our sandwiches at lunch, a short snow squall came through. It lasted about ½ hour & was mixed with small ice particles. Not enough to stay on the ground but indicative of what’s coming.
