MINGO, Day 2.
Day 214 – Today is supposed to be sunny and warm, but pretty windy. We hung around & set up some appointments and things that needed to be put in place for when we’re back home in May. It was 60 degrees, sunny and windy when we left the campground a little after 11 a.m.
We started our Mingo NWR visit where we’d left off yesterday afternoon & drove the final leg of the Auto Tour first. Spring is beginning to arrive here (previously when we were further south in TN, trees & bushes had begun to bud and turn green; it’s a little slower here). We’ve been seeing a few flowering trees & some greening up of the bushes here, plus Warblers and Dragonflies are beginning to arrive in large numbers. We did not take the part of the Auto Tour that goes into the Ozark hills but stayed closer in where most of the water fowl were. We had our lunch at the entrance to the Boardwalk Trail, then took that hike through the bayou, swamp and cypress trees. Then we continued driving at several of the Ditches & Levees.
The high today was 81 degrees, beautiful out, very windy so we didn’t kayak. We got back to the RV around 4:30 p.m. and sat outside for at least an hour. We do have campers in this Loop now, but so far they’re very quiet. Another great day.
