PICTOU & EAGLES.

Day 23 – It was 41 degrees this morning, sunny and a bit windy. I forgot to mention yesterday that we were able to refill our propane tanks right here at the Park – very convenient. We also went to the office to pay for our stay along with the propane charges. We’re scheduled to be here a week total. The owner only charged us for 4 nights! He said the other 3 nights were no charge; he likes to have people return (this is our third stay here) and he loves having people come in early in the season. Well, alright then!

This morning was eagle time down at the water. We saw 5 immature Bald Eagles and 3 mature Bald Eagles. There were also 4 or 5 Great Blue Herons. Rob grabbed his camera and went out. See pictures below. Some of the other campers were out, also looking at the birds. The older gentleman pictured below stopped by and chatted with us yesterday when we were sitting out on the deck. He’s a seasonal camper and leaves his trailer here all year, returning to vacation during the season. He said he is Canadian, from Nova Scotia, but has traveled all over the U.S. and Canada, too. He even lived for years in Florida, which he loved, but he said he’s now afraid to go to the States – with all the shootings and everyone killing each other, he believes it isn’t safe. Isn’t it sad? We really hate that people from other countries think that about us. (Just like in 2019 in Labrador, we were at a museum and the locals were chatting with us. They wanted to know why we all voted for Trump – that we must be crazy. We said we ALL did not vote for Trump. We really don’t like the opinions others have formed about our country.)

After the bird show this morning we drove into Pictou to pick up Rob’s saw blades. We stopped to take some picture of Pictou, a scenic old town. With the temperatures possibly climbing into the low 70’s today and rain scheduled to come in all day tomorrow, we hope to spend most of the afternoon sitting out on the deck overlooking the water. It may be windy, but at least it will be warm.

After lunch we went out to the deck. Batten Down The Hatches, boy was it windy! But it was pleasantly warm for a change. The Park is getting busier now that the weekend is coming, with vehicles circling around, some going to camping spots, and others here to check out the Park. The owner was very good –juggling taking the newbies around to show them the sites while helping other people to their reserved campsites.

Rob saw a pair of Kingfishers, and the Eagle Parade continued with many immature Bald Eagles flying overhead. The wind buffeted them around a bit, but they are much more hardy than we are. Tired of the wind, we eventually went inside. The girls were sitting by the open windows enjoying the fresh air. Pixie’s long fur was blowing in the wind. The high today was 73 very nice degrees. The rain begins tonight in the middle of the night.
