TRAVEL DAY

From: Port of Siuslaw Campground & Marina, Florence, OR.

To:Harbor Vista Campground, Lane County Park, Florence, OR.

Day 181 – It was cold, windy, and it rained all night – 39 degrees. We didn’t have to leave our site until noon, so we took our time this morning, watching most of the other RVs depart.

9 miles (0:40) 55607-55616
Cumulative travels from 10/11/2021 to 04/10/2022, 6836 miles, 48780-55616

We left our campsite and parked the RV in the large Port parking lot while we drove in the Honda to have brunch at Fresh Harvest Cafe. We’d wanted to try the Crab Benedict. We weren’t disappointed – our brunch was fantastic. With happy tummies, we drove back to the Port parking lot, hooked up the car to the RV, and ran a couple of errands. We were killing time hoping to bring us closer to the 2 p.m. check-in time at our next campground (which was less than 10 miles from the Port). There is a “cheap” gas station south of Florence – $4.39 is less than the other gas stations by about 20 cents per gallon – in the RV that’s a healthy savings. We filled the RV tank, then drove to the local hardware store to get a longer tape measure. We needed to measure the RV, tow car, kayaks, and bikes all hooked up together in order to get an accurate measurement for booking the ferry that runs from Washington state to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. We measured everything in the True Value parking lot. Total was 53 feet.

We then drove to our next campground, near where the Siuslaw River joins the Pacific Ocean. Harbor Vista Campground is a Lane County Park that we scoped out in advance. Since we saw our campsite and reserved in advance, we knew what we were getting. We arrived at 1:45 p.m. and set up on site #9, a very private, full hook-up site surrounded by trees & bushes. We had to really look to see the neighboring campsites.

It continued to rain and the wind gusts increased in strength. We were nicely protected by the trees. The high today was 49 degrees.
