Day 4 – It was 56 degrees & overcast this morning at 6:30 a.m.  We’d cancelled the appointment with Lindal Cedar Homes this morning, knowing we wouldn’t be able to afford them, and therefore had a relaxing time in the RV.  Later in the morning we drove around the residential areas of Freeport looking at the homes, their various styles, window placement, and the colors of the houses & trims.  Anything we liked & wanted to remember, we photographed for later reference.  We had lunch in the car with take-out from Cindy’s Lobster Pound in South Freeport.  Very good lobster rolls, extremely fresh & tender lobster.  Got gas in the Honda, then more house-looking and then back to the RV as it started to rain. 

Once settled back in the RV, we heard the bellowing again.  The cows were across the field from us on the water side.  Later we heard these strange noises:  a loud, low “UH-OH” three times followed by three whistles.  Again and again.  Turned out a farm worker was calling the cows home.  Eventually, they were herded past the RV on the cowpath again.  The girls were nonchalant this time; they were used to all the falderal. 

Rob spent some time this afternoon researching the permitting process for building a home.  This will include septic permit, building permit, and procedures for doing construction inspections in the unorganized territories.  The Maine Land Use Planning Commission (LUPC) and Dean Bradshaw, the civil engineer who designed our current septic system, were particularly helpful.

We got dinner to-go from the Broad Arrow Tavern at the Harraseekit Inn in Freeport (our favorite restaurant in Freeport – we never miss the opportunity to have their Lobster Stew), and even if we can’t eat there, the food was just as good in the RV.  We each got a bowl of the Lobster Stew.  We split the Brick Oven Lobster Mac-N-Cheese and the Lazy Man’s Lobster with Fettuccini in a lemon cream sauce.  It was all fantastic, but so rich that we now have enough for tomorrow’s lunch (and maybe some for tomorrow night’s dinner, too).  Oink, oink & off to bed early.
