CONGRATULATIONS BENNY & KELSEY AND WELCOME TO LITTLE HARRISON! 7/18/2023!

Day 92 – It was so foggy and humid that we’re having a difficult time keeping the RV dry (and ultimately mold-free). The high temperature yesterday was 71 degrees & the low last night was 67, but the dense fog remains. We’ve had gusty winds the whole time during our stay in St. Bride’s. The wind blows the moisture from the fog into the open windows and we have to walk around with a rag and keep drying everything off.

SEABIRDS IN THE FOG.

Day 91 – Well, we take that back. There occasionally is a weak signal here. It must come and go with the fog, because right now, the fog is truly here. Last night it was so thick, all we could see was this small parking lot. Today, more of the same. It’s been cool & windy, too. I don’t know how many birds we’ll see if this keeps up! (It’s still a lot better than this awful heat wave many of you are experiencing., so we aren’t complaining.)

UP IN THE HILLS & DOWN TO THE WATER.

TRAVEL DAY

From: The Wilds Resort & RV Park, off of Route 90/Salmonier Line, NL.

To: Bird Island Resort, St. Bride’s, NL.

Day 90 – We’re traveling from one peninsula to another again. This one is called the Cape Shore Loop. The main attraction here, for us, is the Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve, which is only a couple of miles from where we’ll be staying. At Cape St. Mary’s there is a vantage point that overlooks a magnificent sea stack which supports the third-largest breeding colony of Northern Gannets in North America.

A DAY SPENT AT THE RV.

Day 88 – Well, as of today we’ve been in Newfoundland for 2 months! It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long, but looking back, we’ve really seen and done a lot. There was a big wedding party at the Resort last night. From up on the hill, we didn’t hear much. This morning the Loons were calling back and forth quite a bit. We love that!

A WARM, SUNNY DAY.

TRAVEL DAY

From: La Manche Provincial Park, near Burnt Cove, NL.

To: The Wilds Resort & RV Park, off of Route 90/Salmonier Line, NL.

Day 87 – We will miss our twanging frogs. This morning we leisurely got ready to travel to a new destination. It was sunny, breezy, and warm out when we got up, 66 degrees. It would’ve been a wonderful day for a whale watching trip out on the water.

AN INTERESTING DAY.

Day 85 – It was 54 degrees this morning and within a few hours the fog had burned off. We were lazy and hung out at the RV until after lunch. We’d wanted to check out some of the villages today and maybe tomorrow go out on the O’Brien’s Boat Tour again, but we had no internet signal and could not check the weather forecast nor the availability of tour boats. After lunch we decided to try to find a signal and make some decisions about today and tomorrow. We leave this campground on Saturday.

CAPE RACE.

Day 84 – It was 54 degrees this morning and still foggy. We figured while we were fogged in, we’d get some cooking done. We made a large batch of Rob’s Garlic Bread (made with homemade Italian-Herb bread), and the sauce for a favorite pasta dish which is served with Shrimp, a Creamy Garlic Mushroom Sauce. That done, and after having salads in a wrap for lunch, we headed out. It was still foggy, but not as bad as yesterday. We’ll see if we can get any pictures.

TWANG.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Butter Pot Provincial Park, near Holyrood, NL.

To: La Manche Provincial Park, near Burnt Cove, NL.

Day 83 – Mid 50’s this morning. It was supposed to rain last night and this morning. The weather forecast was wrong. It was 62 degrees & cloudy at 1:35 p.m. when we departed Butter Pot, after dumping tanks & getting some drinking water. We’ll have to boil our water again at the next campground, also a Provincial Park. The Park is not far away, so we weren’t worried about hurrying out.
