LOBSTER STEW.
Day 2 – The high yesterday was 59 degrees and it was 35 last night & clear. Today was beautiful – sunny with a little breeze, and the high was 48 degrees. Cooler than NY. In the morning we relaxed at the RV, caught up on some blogging, and close to noon we went into town, Freeport.
We always like Freeport, Maine. There are many restaurants and wonderful stores if you like to shop or browse. It’s also the home of the original LL Bean. The stores encompass a couple of city blocks, each large store carrying different items: a store for sporting goods, a store for clothing, a store for home goods, etc. People make a complete day out of going from store to store. The Outlet store carries current extra-marked-down items from all the different stores and we’ve bought great items there in the past, for example, bedding, throw rugs, shoes, clothes, and camp chairs. There are also wonderful furniture stores: Thomas Moser & Chilton, come to mind, and they are wonderful to walk through and look at the amazing furniture. Cuddledown is a favorite for their towels and bedding. And Georgetown Pottery is full of beautiful items. These are mostly within walking distance from the Harraseeket Inn, a beautiful historic Inn with a great restaurant, the Broad Arrow Tavern. We NEVER go to Freeport without stopping for a large bowl of Lobster Stew. It is so good, and today was no exception. We had lunch and got dinner to go – pizza and lobster stew for lunch, and spinach artichoke dip, a caesar salad with lobster & an order of macaroni & cheese with lobster for dinner. We didn’t do any shopping this time. We didn’t need anything, plus when traveling in a small space for a long time, there’s no room to add any items (helps us to not spend much unless it’s something we really need).
After a little drive around town, taking the long way back to the campground, we spent a quiet afternoon in the RV. While the girls slept and cuddled with us, we relaxed, doing more work on the blog and catching up. Tomorrow we will leave for the remainder of the drive to our land. We usually stop again for a night or two in Belfast, but that campground is not open yet for the season. This drive will also be longer than we usually prefer but once we reach the land, we’ll be staying for about 9 or 10 days. We haven’t been to the property since 2021, and once we get the downed trees cleaned up, we’re really looking forward to the visit (and some more lobster).
