BOMBAY HOOK NWR.
Day 394 – Cooler weather here, it reached 60 degrees during the day, low 40’s at night. The campground has been quiet so far, but it’s not the weekend yet. The girls watched us closely this morning to see if we were moving towards packing up. By the time we left for Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, a little before 10 a.m., they knew we were staying and were busily napping and dreaming.
We’d been having some trouble with the Honda. Sometimes she starts right up, sometimes she doesn’t. The battery is not old, Rob’s checked the cables and other possibilities as much as he can while on the road. We’ll be home soon where he can pursue this further, but meanwhile, today we bought a Battery Jump Starter in Dover, DE. Hopefully, this will get us through till we get home.
We drove to Bombay Hook near Dover and spent most of the day there. Some of the waterfowl were there, and others flew in during the day. The majority are still on their way, we assume. It was a nice day and we shared the wildlife drive with a surprising number of others, some with huge lenses and tripods, taking pictures of the activity. We inched along in our normal fashion; it was fun.

We then drove from DE into MD to visit Gail (my stepmother) and her fantastic feline, Lacy. This cat is one of the friendliest, joyful cats we have ever encountered. She and Gail are quite a pair. We visited for a bit, then went to dinner, having an-always-great-meal at the restaurant by her home. Back at Gail’s after being amused by Lacy for awhile, we returned to the RV, almost getting lost when the GPS directed us to a Ferry that was closed and that we didn’t need to take anyway. We got to the RV just in time (close to 8 p.m.), before the girls were too grouchy. Feeding them dinner helps.
