TRAVEL DAY

From: Webster State Park, Hilltop Campground, Stockton, KS.

To: Salina KOA Holiday Campground, Salina, KS.

Day 371 – It was very cold this morning, 27 degrees. We couldn’t check in to our next campground until 3 p.m., so we just hung around here this morning until the appropriate time to leave. Because it was later, we ate lunch before we left. This fooled the girls, and they were surprised to see we were leaving. We departed Webster State Park, after dumping tanks, at 12:55 p.m. It was 50 degrees and sunny.

We headed south, then east, taking smaller roads until reaching I-70. Then we headed east to Salina, KS. For the most part, it was flat farm lands. Then we got on a road that took us through some rolling, tree’d hills and by a pretty reservoir. Once on I-70, it was kind of boring again. We did make one stop – for gas in the RV.

We arrived at the Salina KOA Holiday Campground at 3:20 p.m. and were promptly directed to our campsite. We had reservations for one night. It was 55 degrees, the high for today, sunny and breezy. We were assigned site #21 with full hook-ups, a pull-through campsite, so easy in, easy out in the morning. The campground was right by the I-70 thruway, but because it was cool out we had the windows shut and it wasn’t too noisy. Our campsite was across from the playground, not a good sign, but there were no children playing outside. We had no complaints. We unpacked, and because it was almost dinner time by the time we were done with chores, we just relaxed for the evening. Tomorrow morning we hop on I-70 and head east again, this time stopping in Kansas City, Missouri.
