TRAVEL DAY
From: Nelson Reservoir Recreation Area, Malta, MT.
To: Edgewater Inn & RV Park, Malta, MT.

Day 345 – It was a cold 31 degrees this morning when we got up; sunny and clear out. Our travel day drive was to be a short one, around 20 miles only. The reason we were changing campgrounds was because we needed to fill up with water and dump tanks before moving on to the Elk Viewing area. We moved from a no hook-up campground to a campground with full hook-ups just for one night.

We could take our time this morning. We still had to pack everything up, unfortunately. If you don’t secure things well in the RV when you drive, things get broken no matter what the distance is you’re driving. But the new campground had an arrival time of after 12 noon, the drive time was short, and we had plenty of time. Rob saw a Golden Eagle outside the RV and followed it around to get a picture, and I had time to write up yesterday’s blog post so Rob could send it out. He also put a new sticker, “Montana”, on the travel map. It’s nice to be able to add more stickers to the places we’ve visited over night. We departed at 11:40 a.m., took Route 2 west back to Malta, got gas in the RV and Honda, and arrived at our new campground at 12:20 p.m.

The campground was in western Malta off Route 2 at the Edgewater Inn & RV Park. Behind the Inn, which was really a motel, there was a small campground. The “Inn” had 34 rooms, the RV Park had 20 campsites and a tent area. There were more people camping than were staying at the Inn. We thought it would be just a big parking lot, but it was actually nice with sites between big, old Cottonwood trees. We had site #7. There was no one next to us. And there were full hook-ups. Electricity, imagine that.

We unpacked and set up camp. We had a couple of errands to run while in town. We went to the post office to mail a couple of things and to pick up a piece of our mail that we’d had forwarded from the Florida mail service. In addition to a gas station, this town actually had a grocery store – an Albertson’s – so we stocked up on those necessities we were running low on. Back at the RV we relaxed. Tomorrow we move on. The high tod.ay was 68 degrees with an excellent breeze. The girls were fine and settled right in. They watched the birds in the Cottonwood trees.
