ABOUT EDGEWATER INN & RV PARK: We were given paperwork when we checked into this campground, so I actually can report something about it. Edgewater Inn & RV Park were located in Malta, a small city in Montana around the intersections of Route 2 and Route 191. This is an old western town. There are farms and ranches nearby. Also, the Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge, which has an auto tour, is about 10 miles away. And 10 miles beyond the Refuge is Nelson Reservoir Recreation Area, a beautiful Lake with a no fee, no hook-up campground.
The campground was in western Malta off Route 2 at the Edgewater Inn & RV Park. Behind the Inn, which was really a motel, there was a small campground. The “Inn” had 34 rooms, the RV Park had 20 campsites and a tent area. When we visited for one night, there were more people camping than were staying at the Inn. We thought it would be just a big parking lot, but it was actually nice with sites between big, old Cottonwood trees. We had site #7, a pull-thru. The pull-thru spots filled up as the evening wore on. And there were full hook-ups. This was a one-night stayover so we could fill our water tank and dump the other tanks before proceeding to another campground without hook-ups.
The campground offered use of the facilities of the Inn: an indoor pool & sauna; a laundry room; dog kennels; and Wi-Fi. There were full hook-ups at 7 of the campsites and electrical hook-ups only at the other 13 campsites. There were trash receptacles, restrooms & showers. We would stay here again. The fee was $45.90 including tax. Check-in time was after 12 noon. Check-out time was before 11 a.m.
NOTE: The campground is right next to the train tracks and you really hear them when they go through. Needed earplugs to sleep.
