Day 292 – We had more of a breeze this morning, so we were hoping it would be cooler, too. The forecast was a high of 77 degrees, but from past experience we knew it would be wrong. We stayed in the RV all day where it was cooler, except we ran a couple of errands after lunch. It reached 88 degrees later this afternoon, then the temperature began dropping. We think the heat wave here is over; glad we weren’t at home where they’ve been having a long hot spell. A family in a rented RV occupied one of the sites next to us, so it’s much more crowded now. Tomorrow we hope to take a long drive.

A BOAT RIDE.
Day 291 – This morning Rob walked across the street to the “InletFront” and took some morning pictures. The campground was quiet and the water on Neroutsos Inlet was still. (And no, it is not oceanfront, per se. Neroutsos Inlet flows to the Pacific Ocean 20 km from the campground.)

TRAVEL DAY
From: Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge andRV Park, Quadra Island BC.
To: Port Alice Oceanfront RV Park, Port Alice BC.
Day 290 – After 11 nights in one campground we were a little rusty this morning going through our packing up routine. We were up at 6 a.m. and we departed the wonderful Tsa-Kwa-Luten Campground at 8:10. It was 64 degrees with hazy sunlight. We had hoped to get to the ferry terminal early enough to make the 9 a.m. ferry to Campbell River.

THE LAST DAY ON QUADRA ISLAND.
Day 289 – We leave tomorrow morning to take the ferry back to Vancouver Island. After seeing the really long line of people waiting on Sunday, we are motivated to get out of here early. This morning we did the final load of laundry and cooked up some meals in advance so that they’d be already prepared when we need them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GAIL! WISH WE WERE THERE TO HELP YOU CELEBRATE.
Day 288 – Today we did a little more than the “nothing” of yesterday. Still awaiting the high temperatures that have been forecast. It reached 75 degrees today. We did a load of laundry today; we’ll do one tomorrow, then practically everything we own will be clean. We have no idea when we’ll come across a place to do laundry again. Oh, such problems being on the road, ho ho.

NOTHING.
Day 287 – We didn’t leave the campsite today, but we did wear a pattern on the ground between the RV and the screened tent. It was a day of nothing, and that’s a good thing. We expected again, based on the weather forecast, to be way too hot and pretty miserable. The hot weather never came (yet); the high was 79 degrees. We hope everyone who is experiencing this heat wave is managing to stay cool. The only action around here was a Seal visited a couple of times bobbing up and down in the sea and there were again two cruise ships that went by. Disney’s had Mickey Mouse on their smokestacks. Tomorrow is supposed to be way hot. We’ll see……

WEEKEND ON THE ISLAND CONTINUES.
Day 286 – We moved to a different campsite this morning. Someone else gets this site today and we move to our new site for four nights. Remember we were going to leave today, but extended our stay? When we went into town today and saw the lines of cars waiting to get on the ferry, we were positive we made the correct decision!

WEEKEND ON THE ISLAND.
Day 285 – We made a trip into town (VERY small town) to go to the Post Office. We were really surprised how many people were there, hanging around the one strip mall and crossing the street in a huge mass to go to the Saturday Farmer’s Market. It seemed like the entire large city of Campbell River had taken the ferry over to Quadra Island. We just went to the post office – not across the street to the Farmer’s Market – there wasn’t room there for two more people. WOW!

LAZY DAYS.
Day 284 – In our original plans we were only going to be on the Island until today. Several weeks ago, we extended our stay at this campsite for another two nights. Now, at the thought of having to leave on Sunday, and because a different campsite became free, we extended our stay by another 4 nights. A heat wave is arriving and this ocean paradise has wonderful breezes and will be so much cooler. If we never come home, just look for us here, LOL.

“BABY” LUCA TURNS 6 MONTHS OLD!
Day 283 – About a week ago, our favorite little tiny baby puppy turned 6 months old, but we had no signal and have just downloaded pictures. Happy Belated Birthday, Luca. You are a big boy now!
