WHALES & DOGS.
Day 187 – We had hail again this morning, cold and windy out. The sun yesterday was so nice…….oh well. This morning we changed sites again, this time moving to campsite #4, oceanfront for two days.
Once the campers left and we could move in, we went to get lunch again at the same place we went yesterday, Green Salmon. Rob had regular coffee; I tried the Clockwork Orange Latte – espresso, dark chocolate mocha, and minced orange peel – it was different; I think I’ll go back to the Mexican Mocha tomorrow. We split a chocolate croissant (which was huge!), and Rob got the Breakfast Sandwich with ham (vegan), egg (vegan), and Tillamook Cheddar on toasted whole grain bread – he said it tasted just like regular ham and egg. I repeated yesterday’s sandwich, the Tempeh BBQ. Then we drove up the coast sightseeing and also looking for a pottery store, which we found just south of Lincoln City. The weather was mostly cloudy with some wind and it was cold. We did get a few pictures. It was still very beautiful, though cold, and surfers were even out in the water.
On the way back to the RV we picked up dinner to go from Luna’s – same place we went last night – and later we split the Clam Chowder with Baby Shrimp, an order of huge Prawns, and an order of Scallops – all very good. Just before reaching the campground we saw a whale blow, so we pulled off to the side of the road and watched for awhile, seeing it blow four more times. Once we were back at the campground, we whale-watched from inside the RV and saw another whale blow four times. It was lively at the beach, too. We have enjoyed watching people from the campground walking their dogs. Once on the beach, the dogs are let off their leashes and it’s really fun to watch them joyfully run free. Sometimes the dogs carry their toys down to the beach in their mouths. The dogs have been so happy.
