A DRIVE.

Day 142 – This morning it was cool, not cold, and hazy again. We relaxed in the morning, sat out in the tent with our books, and didn’t do much at all, but Rob took a picture of a lizard.

After lunch we went for a drive. First we went northwest to check out the Codorniz Recreation Area Army Corps of Engineers Campground at Eastman Lake. It was about a half hour trip to get there, driving through this same beautiful scenery of rolling green hills covered with wildflowers. Nice fields with large trees had horses and cows grazing.

At the Lake, (which was fairly shallow), we checked out all the campsites in case we wanted to move to this campground after we were finished at our current place. Cordorniz was more crowded than our campground, and their sites weren’t as large. So we decided, probably not as far as visiting here next, and now we’re considering a different area for when we leave here after the weekend.

When we got back to our campground, we took a drive around the dam and checked out the area on the other side of our lake, Henley Lake. This lake, too, was shallow, but deeper than Eastman Lake. It really is beautiful here. There was a wonderful view from a drive to the top of a hill, the Park’s Scenic Viewpoint.

When we got back to the RV, we started a loaf of bread. The breadmaker wasn’t working properly; it kept turning off. It’s either the breadmaker or the electrical outlet. We finished the loaf of bread in the oven and will try baking the next loaf from a different outlet (before going out and buying another breadmaker). When things break, they all seem to do it at once.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at the tent, reading. Down the hill two Rabbits with little puffy white tails were chasing each other. We think they were feeling frisky because spring is here. We now have people camped on both sides of us, and it’s not the weekend yet. The people so far have been quiet. The girls like it here, and there’s plenty of light on the dashboard all day for them. The high today was 76 degrees.
