TRAVEL DAY: REEDSVILLE, OHIO TO BATAVIA, OHIO.
Day 29 – It was 38 degrees and sunny this morning – a beautiful day. We are on the eastern side of Ohio. Today we drive closer to the western side of Ohio, about 20 miles from Cincinnati. We left our short, narrow campsite at 10:45 a.m. The RV was covered with Ladybugs.
We drove across Ohio; half of the trip was on small country roads winding through the hills, and the other half was on mostly level land with lots of farms. It was surprising how many Ladybugs were still on the vehicle most of the way. They must have strong suction cups on their bellies! We also dealt with lots of Ladybugs inside the RV, and we hoped to make some progress removing them using the mighty Bugzooka, which captures them in a tube using suction, allowing us to release them back outside. We’d never seen anything like this Ladybug invasion. Altogether we removed hundreds from inside the vehicle, as soon as we filled the Bugzooka and emptied it outside, we would come back in and find just as many as we’d had before. Our campground destination did not have the Ladybug invasion, thank goodness.
We arrived at East Fork State Park at 2:45 p.m., after stopping for gas and a lunch break at a rest stop. It was 69 degrees and sunny. There was no one on duty, so we just drove to the campsite we’d reserved for two nights, stopping first to fill the fresh-water tank. Part of the campground was closed for the season, but several loops were still open. Loop B was mostly unoccupied; we got lucky – site #32 with electric hook-ups, was a very good campsite. We set up camp, Rob put up the screened tent, and loving the warmth and fresh air, we spent some relaxation time in the tent. The girls felt the drive was a little long and the winding roads didn’t do much for their tummies, but they were happy when the RV was at the campsite.
