WAITING FOR THE COWS TO COME HOME.
Day 121 – It turned out that we didn’t have a decent internet connection at Wolfe’s Neck Farm, so we are sending yesterday’s blog out today (Saturday) upon arrival at the next campground. Meanwhile, we spent the morning and early evening waiting for the cows to be led out to the fields and waiting for them to come home for dinner. The moo-ing as they shuffle by can be heard throughout the area. And little kids line up to watch the procession with excitement every time.
We spent much of Friday shopping (and eating). The girls were settled in and didn’t seem to notice we were gone. First we went to a Freeport store to see if they had any of the large Gulf of Maine Scallops. They were almost sold out, but we were able to get 4 lbs. Now I can stop obsessing about it, LOL.We brought them back to the freezer in the RV, then went back into Freeport. We went to Cuddledown, our favorite source of bamboo towels and got a new set of towels for our new bathroom in NY. We also bought a bedspread for the bedroom in the RV; the previous one was old and falling apart.
We stopped for lunch at Cindy’s Lobster Rolls – they were the best lobster rolls we have had this trip, but boy have prices for lobster gone up this year……scallops, too! It turned out that prices have gone up elsewhere. The next stop was the group of LL Bean stores; Freeport is their home base. I got some hiking boots with good ankle support; Rob tried on hiking boots, too, but wasn’t happy with the fit, and stock was low. Rob looked for muck boots and boating shoes, but again stock was low. He got some kayak pants, and his trusty leatherman multi-tool needed replacing, and LL Bean was a great place to do that! He also needed jeans and shorts, but stock was very low on those items. He got the last 3 pairs of jeans in his size, but no shorts. We were wondering if stock was low in several places we went because of supply being held up in ships sitting in the ocean waiting to unload?
We took our shopping bags back to the RV, relaxed for a short while, then picked up take-out from the Harraseeket Inn for dinner: Fish Tacos for me and a Wild Mushroom Pizza for Rob. Tomorrow we leave for Massachusetts and the last stopover before heading home. The cats, having no idea they’d be traveling again, played on the bed. The rude awakening will be tomorrow.
