GOOD-BYE RAIN; HELLO BUGS.
Day 13 – It is warmer today, getting up to a whopping 63 degrees & partly sunny. The dampness from all the rain brought out the bugs. Until now, we’d only seen a few biting black flies & their friends, the mosquitoes. We are thankful for that.
Due to the rain, Rob missed the last day or two of cliff coffee & camera time, but this morning he was back out there. The ferns he’d transplanted a couple of years ago had burst forth with new growth almost overnight. The birds weren’t awake yet. Click any picture below to see a slideshow.
The girls were happy also to have bright sunlight on the dashboard. We’d bought them another catnip-stuffed harp seal since they like their previous one so much. Rob tossed it up onto the dashboard sunning bed and they had a party. Although, Gracie claims she still prefers Garfield, the harp seal was a hit.
We spent the afternoon in the screened tent. It was quite comfortable with the little propane heater. We heard a couple of loud “PLOPS” into the Harbor water but didn’t know what it was until we saw an Osprey come out of the water and fly away with a fish. The Kingfishers were also flying back and forth noisily. Overall, it was a good day.
