GOOD DAY SUNSHINE.
Day 35 – We woke up to full sun, YAAA! 44 degrees though, but Rob spent a lot of time on the cliff with his coffee; he said there was lots going on at low tide – a great blue heron fishing, sandpiper-like birds tromping around in the mud, and two sea gulls eating a crab. We’ll see if it’s warm enough for kayaking when the tide comes back in.
Later, the harbor was sparkling with sunlight and gorgeous. I went outside to check it out. (It occurred to me that it’s such a different view & feeling between the sunny times and the foggy times, so I took a few pictures to use as a sunny day reference compared to a foggy day. If they turned out, we’ll do a comparison post next time it’s foggy.) It was 50 degrees, still a bit cold for kayaking, so we’ll wait for later – hope the sun stays out; there are a few light clouds now.
Rob took a little walk following the pipe from the well (work that we had done years ago) and discovered something white just below the ground. It was styrofoam; it was used to insulate the pipes, and if we want to be here all winter when we have the cottage, we need to have some work done on those pipes. They need to be buried much deeper, or some special insulating needs to be done. More to look into…….
Status at lunch time of the mouse? The girls are all napping, presumably exhaused by the excitement of last night. They did not wake us up with the noise of them chasing anything through the RV, nor did we have to rescue the little mouse. YET. The grate is still open….no sign of the prey.
Things came up this afternoon that Rob had to take care of, family-wise, plus the sun had disappeared, replaced with some dark clouds. It didn’t get over 57 degrees today. We went out to the tent for an hour, using the small propane heater to keep warm. We’ll try for kayaking another day.
