RAIN, RAIN, RAIN.

Day 78 – It rained all night last night and was 61 degrees & still raining while we got ready to leave. It’s always pretty messy when it’s raining hard & Rob has to dump tanks & pack things up outside. We left at 11 a.m. (Central Time) and at times during the drive, it was raining so hard we could barely see.

We arrived at Charlestown State Park in Charlestown, Indiana at 3:05 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). The rain continued and the wind picked up, pretty nasty out. We were glad to get to our next destination. The Park wasn’t crowded & the Ranger let us drive through and pick a site. We chose site #96AA with full hook-ups ($134 for four nights, plus tax).

By the time we chose a campsite, unpacked & set up, and got the cats settled in, it was time to leave for Louisville, Kentucky to go to the restaurant where we’d be meeting my daughter, Pam, for dinner.  Louisville, KY is a city we really like, but to avoid staying in the big city, we camp across the River in Indiana. We’ve been to this State Park our previous two visits & we really like it. Usually we enjoy the drive over the bridge into KY, but it was raining so hard we could barely see. Big-time flooding if this keeps up. The sky is really dark. Big gusts of wind. Ick.

We got to El Mundo at 5 p.m. and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. This is a very popular restaurant and we tend to go there with Pam often when we visit. The Margaritas are excellent and so is the food. We had a good time & it was great to see her again. We made plans for tomorrow & headed back to the RV. She had worked all day & we were tired from the drive in the weather. Speaking of the weather, it was raining so hard on the way back to the RV that what little traffic was on the road slowed down & most cars put their emergency flashers on, something we don’t see too often. The wind gusts & the water on the highway made the car swerve. Very bad conditions. We were glad to get back to the RV.

The high today was 62 degrees, but since we got to the campground, the temperature has been steadily dropping. It’s supposed to get into the 20’s tonight with temperatures only getting up to the low 40’s tomorrow. You can sure tell we’re getting farther north again!
