Day 44 – At 7 a.m. it was cloudy & 61 degrees. I don’t think we’ve had temperatures this warm since last Summer in Maine. Bodes well for the rest of this trip. The crowded campground was busy again, this time with people packing up. By 11 a.m. at least half of the campers had left & Rob went to the Ranger’s Station to see if we could move on over to our weekday site, #122.
The previous campers in Site #122 had left, and the site had been cleaned, so Rob was told we could move. We didn’t bother to pack up, nor put the girls in the bedroom behind closed doors, we just drove over & set up camp at our new campsite. Gracie & Java were quite perplexed, looking at Rob as he drove, “Do you know what you’re doing? We are still out here & you are driving.”
We were completely set up & hooked up by noon, still 61 degrees. The wind picked up & it started to rain. It’s nice & quiet at this site even with the windows open & the fresh air coming in, since right now no one is camping on either side of us. We’ll see what happens in the afternoon. We had lunch & then kicked back, read our books, and listened to the rain on the roof. The girls have calmed down and settled in. Our site is surrounded by trees, mostly Palmettos, and we are parked facing the marsh. It’s low tide & we have a partial view. The campsite we were in last time was Site #118. It was smallish but had more Live Oak trees & was more secluded, and probably the best water view of the eight or so waterview campsites at this campground. This site is large; we like it, too.

It stopped raining late afternoon & the sun peaked out of the clouds. There’s more water in the marsh since the tide is coming up now. Very pretty out & so nice to have the windows open with the fresh air circulating. The high today was 68 degrees. As it got dark, there was still no one camping near us.
