Day 148 – We got up this morning to see the election results. No internet. This afternoon we finally got some results. Good news for our area of NY! Congratulations to Jen Metzger! Great job, Kelleigh! Thanks to those who voted! And thanks to those who worked so hard!

7 a.m., 50 degrees, windy. It rained all night & was quite wet out yet again. Plenty of pooled water & it was rushing off the cliff again. Rob had some difficulties with the chipper/shredder today. He put in a new engine year before last. Now it has a gas tank leak & problems with the belts. It’s an old machine that we got at auction many years ago. I’m sure he’ll keep rebuilding it.

The high today was 56 degrees & it was sunny. Some high wind gusts. It was a good day for working, so in between breakdowns we both took turns with the chipper/shredder. The piles of tree debris are shrinking – they should be after more than 10 hours of chipping so far. But in the end, there should be enough chips to cover all the trails & pads for the year.

We went into town to dump the recycleables; nice drive, no clouds over the ocean & we could clearly see Grand Manan Island & the white caps on the sea. Beautiful. We’re feeling kinda sad because we know we’ll be leaving soon. The recent warm spell, in spite of the rain & wind, helped to lengthen our stay here, but it will get much colder soon & we’ll need to leave before things freeze up. Home to the wood pellet stove & a house that will seem absolutely huge after living in the RV. The girls, once they’ve adjusted, will once again love to run around the house like maniacs. Rob will go to CA to see his mom. We’ll see our friends. Repair whatever is broken. Celebrate Thanksgiving. Then take another road trip?
