Day 99 – The seasons are definitely changing here – the temperatures are dropping and it is dark later in the morning & earlier in the evening. We were up by 7 a.m., 52 degrees, with fog over the Ocean.
It was cloudy & foggy, sprinkling rain on & off throughout the day. We spent a lot of time indoors & in the afternoon when we got tired of that, we went outside to do some tree work. Rob cleaned up one of the trees that had gone down during the winter & moved some of the equipment we’d dropped off last June up from the storage area below to the cleared area above where we run the chipper/shredder. We have an old, heavy chipper/shredder that we got at auction many years ago & we use it to deal with the downed trees, turning them into wood chips which go back down on the trails. He also began clearing a small pathway which will connect the new RV pad to the trail leading to the screened tent. This should hopefully avoid unnecessary spillage of beer & wine in the future, LOL.
Meanwhile, I took colored surveyor’s tape and wandered through the woods between the RV and the cliff’s edge, marking dead or dying trees for future cutting. The end goal is to open up the view of the harbor without bothering the larger, healthy trees. The woods from the road to the original RV pad will remain dense & untouched. And below, more sun can get thru for the remaining trees. We worked hard, got wet from the rain, but even with only a couple hours of work, we already have a better view. The high today was only 59 degrees. The kitties were lazy & stayed warm on their heated pads. They are very happy to have them now that we have electricity & the weather is cooling!
