Day 204 – Beginning of Week 30. Rained during the night, 40 degrees and cloudy at 8 a.m. this morning. We sat around in the RV catching up on some things online. It rained a little bit here & there. We had chores to do, and since it was supposed to rain most of the day, we headed to the closest town of any size, Camden, TN.  First priority – coffee beans – we were almost out and this could be critical. We had to do laundry, one of our least favorite chores, but the laundromat we found was located next door to a Pizza Hut – that made it better. Then off to get gas in the Honda and to buy a few items, including the coffee beans, at Walmart.

Last night when we were sitting around relaxing we heard a loud bird call we’d never heard before: whip-or-will, whip-or-will, whip-or-will. So we looked up the bird call & sure enough, there are Whip-Poor-Wills in this area. They are a different-looking bird and we’ve definitely never seen one before. Supposedly they are elusive and hard to spot. A new goal for this visit, but you usually only see them at night; this one will be difficult to find.

An uneventful, cloudy, sometimes rainy day with a high of 50 degrees, we relaxed when we got home, too full from Pizza Hut to have dinner. The girls like it here and were feeling really feisty. We were glad to have the laundry done once again.

We had whip poor wills on long island. My daughter when she was little made us close the windows in her room because they scared her. I forgot I have not heard one since leaving L.ong Island. My Aunt lives on Whip poor Will drive in Armonk but I don’t recall ever hearing them before I moved to Long Island.
